India's veteran pacer Zaheer Khan and left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha have been released by the Mumbai Indians, on Monday, ahead of Indian Premier League 2015. (Yuvraj Singh, IPL's costliest buy, released by RCB)
Zaheer had suffered a side strain during IPL 2014 and has been out of action since. He was targetting a return in the Champions League T20 played later in the year, but failed to recover. Zaheer has also been ignored by the national selectors in the 30-man squad for the World Cup 2015. (Delhi Daredevils discard Kevin Pietersen)
Mumbai Indians retained the services of off-spinner Harbhajan Singh but let go of left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha who featured sporadically in the 2013 season and has also lost his national team spot to Ravindra Jadeja.
IPL 2014 finalists Kings XI Punjab parted ways with Cheteshwar Pujara (Rs. 1.9 crore), Lakshmipathi Balaji (Rs. 1.80 crore) and left-arm spinner Murali Kartik (Rs. 1 crore) from their squad for the next season, while retaining the services of Virender Sehwag.
