Never doubtful of his ability to be in the Test squad but Australian left-arm spinner Ashton Agar was nonetheless surprised at being called into the squad for the fourth and final Test against India starting here on January 6. (Also read: MS Dhoni retires from Tests, Kohli to take over)

The 21-year-old was added to the home squad keeping in consideration the turn that the Sydney track traditionally offers for tweakers. Agar has enjoyed a good start in the Big Bash league, having taken three wickets at an average of 17.33 for the Perth Scorchers. ('Spoilt Brat' Virat Kohli Assumes India Test helm)

"It was completely out of the blue but it's obviously very exciting and I'm very happy I got the call," Agar was quoted as saying by the local media. (MS Dhoni's retirement surprises former cricketers)

"I was just over the moon. I think I was a bit shocked at first but after that it was just felt like a dream come true again. I have never doubted myself about that(getting back in the Test side)," added the spinner, who made a memorable Test debut last year scoring 98 runs while batting at number 11.

Agar said he is not sure if he would be picked in the final XI against India.

"I feel at this stage right now in the season I'm going quite well so I'm really comfortable with being picked at the moment," he said.

"If they go with two spinners I guess so but that's up to the selectors so I can just bowl well in the nets from here."
