Former India Test skipper Anil Kumble has expressed his disappointment over middle-order batsman Rohit Sharma's inability to bide his time and settle in during a crucial passage of play on Day 2 of the engrossing Brisbane Test. (Scorecard | Day 3 Blog)

"Rohit had spent some time in the middle on Day 1 but played that expansive drive too early on Thursday morning. At Brisbane, the ball always does something early on and it was still a new ball to boot, so Rohit should have waited for some more time and settled in further and built on what the likes of Vijay and a very imprssive Rahane had done," Kumble wrote in his column for a leading English Daily. "Rohit wasted a good start and I must admit disappointed on the second morning," Kumble added. (Hazlewood impresses Glenn McGrath)

Rohit had walked out to bat at the fall of Murali Vijay's wicket towards the end of Day 1 on Wednesday and managed to get his eye in for the brief period remaining in the final session. He and a well-set Rahane added 50 runs overnight to keep India's innings afloat. (Watson needs to convert his starts: Slater)

However, in the morning session of Day 2, Rohit threw away a good start by reaching for a ball that was moving away from him and edged it. Smith at second slip took an excellent diving catch to send Rohit back to the pavillion for 32. Indian innings wrapped up for 408.
