Brisbane: India won the toss and chose to bat on the opening day of the second Test against Australia at the Gabba on Wednesday. (Blog | Scorecard)
India, with Mahendra Singh Dhoni back as skipper, made three changes from their 48-run defeat in last week's opening Adelaide Test.
Dhoni eased out wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha, off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin replaced leg-spinner Karn Sharma and paceman Umesh Yadav came in for Mohammed Shami.
Australia will unleash a new-look fast bowling attack with Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc in for injured Ryan Harris and axed Peter Siddle.
Shaun Marsh will bat at number five as a replacement for Michael Clarke, who is out for the rest of the series after a hamstring surgery, while Steve Smith captains Australia for the first time.
India have not won in five Tests at the Gabba, where the Australians have not lost to any comers since the Viv Richards-led West Indies, by nine wickets in 1988.
