Port-of-Spain: Former Trinidad and Tobago sports minister Manohar Ramsaran has successfully piloted a Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board motion condemning the West Indies cricketers for abandoning the India tour two weeks ago.

In a strongly-worded motion, Ramsaran, now a team manager of the island's cricket team, felt that the action of the players to abruptly end the Indian tour was not in the right spirit.

The motion read: "While our Board recognises the rights of the players, we feel that the decision to abruptly end the tour has brought collective shame to the people of the Caribbeans while also bringing the game into disrepute."

"We acknowledge that the stain of this action will be difficult to erase and our Board pledges its full support to the West indies Cricket Board (WICB) in its efforts to mitigate the myriad negative repercussions that emanate from same," it added.

The meeting which took place at the Alloy Lequay Administrative Centre, Balmain, Couva, lasted for over three hours with the overwhelming support of approximately 40 delegates, minus the voice of former presidents of the West Indies Players' Association (WIPA).
