Wellington: New Zealand's leading batsman Ross Taylor is uncertain whether he will recover from a calf injury in time to play in the first Test against Pakistan from November 9. Kiwis will play three Tests, two T20s and five ODIs against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates. (Read: Jesse Ryder Named in New Zealand A Squad)
Taylor missed the one-day series games against South Africa last week, and was still troubled by the injury when the 15-man New Zealand squad left for the UAE on Monday.
He said "it's probably going to be a push to play that warmup game (against Pakistan A from Monday), and see how (that medical staff) think it's going and whether it's good enough to play that first Test."
Taylor said he occasionally feels the injury while batting. He is a key player for New Zealand, having scored 861 Test runs at an average of 78 so far this year.
