With an eye on the 2015 ICC World Cup that starts February 14, India play the West Indies in the first ODI of the five-match series on Wednesday at the Nehru Stadium in Kochi. (LIVE SCORECARD | SCHEDULE )
India have nine one-dayers to go before the mega event to prepare the core group. After these five ODIs, India play four ODIs in Australia and a possible fifth if they make it to the final of the tri-series in January-February.
The West Indies side, on the other hand, is currently more focussed on its tussle with its cricket board than the cricketing challenge on the Indian turf. The Caribbean team is playing their third series against India in four seasons and their performances have been dismal in those past encounters.
With Chris Gayle and Sunil Narine missing, can the Windies side turn the tables or will it be another repeat of their disappointing show?
