Melbourne: Cricket Australia (CA) Sunday announced that KFC Big Bash League teams, the Hobart Hurricanes, Brisbane Heat and Sydney Sixers, have each been fined for breaching the competition's Player Contracting and Remuneration Guidelines.

The CA Integrity Unit found the Hurricanes entered into agreements with two players (Ben Dunk and Alex Hales) during the BBL Contracting Embargo Period as is prohibited under 3.1(a) of the Guidelines, said a CA release.

The Hurricanes were fined $20,000 in total ($10,000 fine for each breach).

The Sydney Sixers and Brisbane Heat both received $10,000 fines for breaching the same provision of the Guidelines.

The Sixers were found to have entered into an agreement with Moises Henriques during the embargo period, while the Heat were found to have done the same with a yet-to-be announced player joining the club for the 2014-15 season.

Commenting on the penalties, CA's senior manager, Iain Roy, said: “While we recognise that in each case these were not flagrant breaches, we remain committed to ensuring clubs fully adhere to the competition’s contracting guidelines at all times. The penalties handed down today reflect the need to uphold the integrity of the league."

“We acknowledge each club’s assistance during the course of our investigations and now consider each matter closed.”
