After their best-ever show at IPL 7, Kings XI Punjab will look to continue their aggressive brand of cricket when they start their campaign against Hobart Hurricanes in a Group B match of the Champions League Twenty20.
Riding on their power-packed batting line-up, Kings XI took IPL 7 by storm before finishing runners-up and George Bailey's men will look to continue their dominating show in their CLT20 debut.
Coached by former India player Sanjay Banger, the Punjab team has some explosive batsmen such as Virender Sehwag, David Miller, besides Indian players Wriddhiman Saha, Manan Vora and Rishi Dhawan. (Read: Kings XI Punjab Look to Silence Hobart Hurricanes)
MITCHELL JOHNSON TO MISS OUT
Mitchell Johnson was a crucial part of Kings XI Punjab's pace department in IPL 7.
Cricket Australia has advised that Mitchell Johnson will not immediately join the Kings XI Punjab in India at the Champions League Twenty20 due to a rib injury. The Aussie pacer has in recent times terrorised batsmen with his pace and aggression.
"As such he has had a break from bowling since returning to Australia and having regular treatment to resolve the problem. He has not fully recovered as yet and will be reviewed over the next week."
CA's Executive General Manager Team Performance Pat Howard said: "Due to medical advice Mitch has not been released to play in the CLT20 tournament at this time. A decision on his release to play for the Kings XI will depend on how he responds to treatment." (Read: Kings XI Punjab to Miss Mitchell Johnson Indefinitely)

The Kings XI Punjab are out to prove that their performance in the IPL was no flash in the pan when they compete in the CLT20. They are looking forward to the upcoming Champions League Twenty20 challenge with skipper George Bailey today saying that the side is focused and well prepared for the games ahead.
When asked if the CLT20 tournament would be a fresh start for the team after it put up its best ever performance in the IPL reaching the finals, Bailey, said, "It is a new start, we take the good things out of IPL, what we learnt as a team and hopefully how much we grew, but I think we focus on the games ahead, it is very much a fresh start."
With KXIP hoping to break the IPL jinx of not winning the title, Bailey said, "It was a good IPL, but it wasn't the IPL that we wanted (not winning the title), so there's still a plenty of room for improvement." (Read: Kings XI Punjab Looking Forward to Challenge, Says George Bailey)
