Panaji: The Goa Cricket Association's Managing Committee has stripped president Vinod Phadke of his powers to chair meetings and represent the body in the BCCI.

The resolution which was adopted in a managing committee meeting on September 3, a copy of which is with PTI, mentioned that Phadke "shall not discharge functions of president of Goa Cricket Association".

"It is resolved that in view of Pendse Commission recommendations, Phadke is hereby restrained by managing committee under powers given to it by GCA constitution that he shall not discharge functions of President of the body," the resolution read.

It also says, "He shall not attend any BCCI meetings or any other meetings on behalf of GCA."

The GCA is in doldrums after state-run Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) had issued show cause notice to the cricketing body on August 27 for failure to adhere to the recommendations of Justice Pendse Commission. The Commission which was probing 2001 India-Australia cricket match ticket scam had recommended that Phadke should be kept out of the GCA's managing committee.

The SAG had earlier, threatened to derecognise GCA. Phadke had refused to step down from the post, seeking 15 days time to respond to the show cause notice. He had also claimed to have BCCI's backing.

The resolution also mentions that Phadke shall be allowed to attend GCA meetings but not to chair it or vote in it. The Managing Committee has also said that the first vice president (Dr Shekhar Salkar) will head the GCA and shall preside over and conduct the meetings of the committee.

He (Vice President) is authorised to do all the acts, deeds and things which are necessary from the President of GCA, it read.
