Karachi: Senior Pakistan batsman Younis Khan will have to wait until later this year to find out if he can make the World Cup 2015 squad after he returned home from Sri Lanka due to the death of his nephew.

"Younis is returning home immediately from Sri Lanka after his 10-year old nephew, Saad Khan died in India," an official of the board said.

Saad had gone to India for a liver transplant but couldn't survive the operation. His body is being flown back from India on Monday and he will be buried in his hometown, Mardan in Pakistan.

"Younis is not in condition to take further part in the one-day series in Sri Lanka so he is returning home," the official stated.

Younis had played in the first one-dayer last week but failed to get going and there has been lot of speculation about his place in the one-day squad with experts pointing out his performances in the remaining two games would decide that.

Younis, who will miss the last two ODIs in Sri Lanka, will now have to wait till the series against Australia in October-November to find out whether he remains in the one-day squad.

Younis had made a comeback to the national ODI squad for the Sri Lankan tour after March, 2013 when he had played in South Africa.

The former captain had scored a memorable 177 in the first Test against Sri Lanka but struggled after that innings.
