According to media reports emerging from Pakistan, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has received clearance from the Indian government to play a full series against their traditional arch-rivals.

A report in the Associated Press of Pakistan says the elusive series will be held in December 2015 and will be hosted by Pakistan in UAE. Once blacklisted by India, venues in UAE have hosted this year's IPL matches.

"The PCB is hopeful that a final shape would be given by the BCCI to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between both the Boards," a Pakistan Cricket Board official was quoted as saying in the report.

India and Pakistan have not played a full series since the ghastly 26/11 terror attack in Mumbai. Pakistan visited India for a short limited-over series in December 2012 which included three ODIs and two T20 Internationals.

Top BCCI and PCB officials are currently attending the ICC annual conference in Melbourne. The PCB is expecting to play at least six home-and-away Test series against India in the next eight-year FTP cycle between 2015 and 2023 which will also include an "off-shore" home series in the Emirates.

A series between India and Pakistan is not decided by the cricket Boards alone. The governments are involved and the political climate is the ultimate factor. Till the first ball is bowled, nothing is final.
