Graeme Swann will be England's new spin guru. In recent times, the England and Wales Cricket Board has summoned the services of ex-players to coach youngsters and be part of the cricket management teams. After former left-arm spinner Ashley Giles, Swann is the latest 'recruit.'

The 35-year-old Swann will train young England spinners. Swann had stunned the world when he retired midway through the Ashes tour. Regarded as a top class off-spinner, Swann took 255 wickets in 60 Tests. He was certainly good for more.

Swann told BBC Test Match Special: "Peter Such is the head of the spin department and he has asked me to talk to bowlers. I'll sit with spinners like Simon Kerrigan, Adam Riley and Scotty Borthwick."

On his role, Swann said: "Just to try to impart some advice or knowledge about Test cricket, because it is different to County cricket. I was lucky to go on a couple of tours and not play so I learned a lot then."

Kerrigan, the 25-year-old slow left-arm bowler from Lancashire, made his Test debut in the final match of the home Ashes series against Australia last year. Borthwick, a leg-spinner with Durham also made his Test debut during the horrible Ashes series.

Riley, 22, is an off-spinner with Kent. He has taken 24 County Championship wickets in Division Two this season at an average of 29.80.
