ICC World Twenty20: England fined for slow over-rate against Sri Lanka

England were two overs short of their target when time allowances were taken into consideration in the ICC World Twenty20 contest.

England has been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during its ICC World Twenty20 Group 1 encounter against Sri Lanka at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium (ZACS) in Chittagong on Thursday.

David Boon of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees imposed the fines after the side, led by Stuart Broad, was ruled to be two overs short of its target when time allowances were taken into consideration.

In accordance with the regulations of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel governing minor over-rate offences, players are fined 10 per cent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount.

As such, Broad was fined 40 per cent of his match fee, while his players received 20 per cent fines. If Broad is found guilty of one more minor over-rate offence in T20Is over the next 12 months, he will receive a one-match suspension as per the provisions of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel.
