NEW DELHI: India resumed the third day of the second Test on a strong note as Zaheer Khan dismissed Kane Williamson and Hamish Rutherford early, putting Kiwis under tremendous pressure.
Zaheer first got Williamson (7) caught behind in the second over of the day with the scorecard reading 27.
The left arm pacer then ended Rutherford's challenge after New Zealand total crossed 50-mark. Rutherford scored 35 before becoming Zaheer's third victim.
The visitors, looking to win and level the two-match series, gained a 246-run first innings lead, having skittled out New Zealand for 192 on the opening day.
New Zealand were 24 for one in their second innings at stumps on second day, 222 runs behind. Zaheer trapped Peter Fulton leg before in the first over.
