"The Indian team is not performing well recently on the foreign tours. We are always tested on the bouncy tracks. We are not a well-experienced side at this time as it was few years back. I think we should give them time to settle," said Ganguly on Sunday.
The 'Prince of Kolkata' was in the city to attend the national conference on Sports Law. UGC sponsored conference on Sports Law, organinzed by the Department of Law and Physical Education of Dr Ambedkar College, concluded at the Persistent Auditorium, IT Park, here on Sunday.
Ganguly, who turned TV commentator after his retirement, was happy with the way Ajinkya Rahane performed in the second Test against New Zealand.
"Rahane has proved himself at the No. 6 position. He is a very good batsman and I am confident that he will continue to excel in the future too," said Ganguly.
About the 2015 World Cup, he said it is too early to say which team will win the title. "There is still a year to go for the mega event. It is not right to predict the winner right now," he added, who chaired the panel discussion during the valedictory function on Sunday.
Vidushpat Singhania, sports lawyer, Supreme Court of India, and senior journalist Boria Majumdar also spoke on various topics on the laws of sports.
