Is SRH caught between Mishra, Karan?

NEW DELHI: Tom Moody, the former Australian cricketer and the current coach of the Sunrisers Hyderabad, wants premier leg-spinner Amit Mishra to continue playing for his IPL team.

Haryana's Mishra, who was one of the leading performers for Sunrisers, wasn't retained by his franchisee as the team chose its captain Shikhar Dhawan and South African pacer Dale Steyn. But the Hyderabad team can buy back Mishra from the auction and this is something Moody wants.

Sunrisers also had the services of another leggie Karan Sharma, who was impressive with the ball last season and even captured the imaginations of big guns in Indian cricket. However, there is a debate within the team that if Sharma can be bought in the auction at a cheaper rate, what is the point of purchasing another leg-spinner in Mishra?

Sources said Moody is clear that if you need success on home ground, you need a wrist-spinner and Mishra easily falls into the category. Whether Sunrisers will go for Mishra or Sharma is something only the auction will tell.
