The Kerala Cricket Association president TC Mathew has been given the role of team manager while Goa Cricket Association chief Vinod Phadke is with the team as an observer. The Indian team also has a logistics manager.
While sources say that BCCI president N Srinivasan has appointed the two as managers, his detractors are seeing this as a move to please those cricket associations who backed him during the BCCI AGM last September, where Srinivasan was re-elected BCCI boss for the third year.
When TOI tried to enquire more about Phadke's role, none of the BCCI officials were ready to speak. The earlier procedure was that the manager would give a report of the team's conduct on and off the field to BCCI after the tour. Now with two managers, it would be interesting to see who prepares the report at the end of the tour!
