Australia opt to bat against England

ADELAIDE: Australian captain Michael Clarke won the toss and decided to bat in the fifth and final one-day international against England at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday.

Scorecard

England need to win to limit the series defeat to 3-2 after sealing a first victory on the tour in Perth on Friday by 57 runs.

Clarke, all-rounder Shane Watson and bowler Clint McKay all return to bolster Australia following the fourth ODI defeat at the WACA.

After an Ashes 5-0 whitewash, England lost the first three ODIs in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney.

For the visitors, Joe Root returns for another chance to improve on a miserable tour with the bat.

Youngster Gary Ballance drops to 12th man as does Steve Smith for the hosts.

England wrap up the tour with three T20 matches in Hobart (January 29), Melbourne (January 31) and Sydney (February 2).
