Ashwin may struggle to find Test spot

India left for New Zealand on Sunday for five ODIs and two Tests. As of now, India have a settled Test team, but there's one spot which is going to be a bit of a worry for MS Dhoni.

Before India left for South Africa, R Ashwin was seen as India's No. 1 spinner in Tests. But things took a turn at Wanderers when India failed to force a result on the fifth day on a cracked up pitch. Ashwin was dropped from the team for the second Test and Ravindra Jadeja came in his place.

The left-arm spinner got six wickets in the Durban Test and it will be difficult for Dhoni to drop the left-armer when they play the first Test against New Zealand.

Jadeja bowls a little flatter through the air, but he looks to hit the pitch and looks to extract spin at a decent pace. The experts feel it's crucial for spinners these days to bowl a little faster through the air and try to get some quick turn.

Ashwin failed to do that in Johannesburg, but he gets a few more chances before the Test series starts in New Zealand. In the five ODIs, both Ashwin and Jadeja will play and unless the Chennai man performs significantly better than his Chennai Super King colleague, it might be difficult for him to hold on to his Test place.
