Anderson's 36-ball ton against West Indies in Queenstown on New Year's Day may be the quickest in any format of the game, but the southpaw revealed he did not have too much time to react as it was over in a jiffy.
"I thought it was a pretty quick one but I did not realize it was the fastest. My innings coupled with the win (in that match) made it my best moment on the field," admitted Anderson while speaking to TOI on Monday.
Elaborating on the ton, he said: "It was a rain-curtailed game and I just went for my shots...Everything that I tried on the day clicked."
With the IPL 7 auction just weeks away, Anderson couldn't have timed his knock better. The 23-year-old is now high on the wish-list of franchises, but he is happy living in the present.
"At the moment, I am concentrating on cementing my place in the New Zealand side. It will be nice if I get to feature in a tournament as big as the IPL. However, at this point of time we have an ongoing series against West Indies and one coming up against India. It should be a good one (against India) as they are a world-class side with some fantastic talent," said Anderson.
The burly all-rounder caught the Kiwi selectors' attention with a finely-crafted 100 against India 'A' in Visakhapatnam last year, an innings he holds close to heart.
"It was humid out there and we were playing against a quality opposition. That knock gave me the belief that I could handle conditions different from what we have back home. A century against a good Indian attack in their conditions always gives the belief that you can do it on the big stage," said Anderson, who made it to the Kiwi Test squad after his good show in India.
A spate of injuries over the years has meant Anderson has already undergone surgeries on his shoulder, hamstring and back. "It has been a little tough for me, but I continue to fight each day," he said.
It was the same fighting spirit that saw him shed about 20kg in the 2012-13 season. "I started my cricketing career quite early but took a long time to score my debut first-class hundred, a 167 against Otago at the Plunket Shield in 2012. In the same year, I decided to work hard on my fitness, and the results were for all to see."
