Kohli, MS Dhoni take India to 288/7

NEW DELHI: Virat Kohli's valiant 99 and a fiery half-ton by MS Dhoni in death overs powered India to 288/7 in the second ODI at Visakhapatnam on Sunday.

Scorecard

Dhoni stayed unbeaten after scoring 51 off 40 balls with the help of four sixes and three boundaries.

Ravi Rampaul dismissed Suresh Raina and Virat Kohli in consecutive overs to help West Indies bounce back in the second ODI at Visakhapatnam on Sunday.

While Kohli missed his ton by just a run, Raina scored 23 and shared 65-run stand with Kohli for the fourth wicket, taking India past 200 mark.

Kohli pulled Rampaul's bouncer down to fine leg, hoping for a boundary, where Jason Holder took a stunner to send back the batsman, disappointed.

Earlier, West Indies skipper Dwayne Bravo won the toss and decided to field against India.

West Indies pacer Ravi Rampaul struck early to give India massive blow as he dismissed in-form Rohit Sharma.

It was rare failure for Rohit edged it to Darren Sammy in the second slip. Rohit started off well smashing two boundaries in the first over but failed to carry the momentum.

India suffered another jolt when West Indies spinner Veerasammy Permaul dismissed Shikhar Dhawan.

Dhawan batted sensibly along with Virat Kohli to take India past 50 runs after losing Rohit Sharma early. Dhawan was easily cruising towards his fifty but beaten by the sharp turn from outside off and caught plumb in front of the wicket.

Darren Sammy gave India third blow at the score of 138 by scalping Yuvraj Singh just after Virat Kohli reached his half-ton.

Yuvraj made 28 off 49 balls and shared 69-run partnership with Kohli who got his half-ton in just 59 balls.

West Indies have made two changes bringing in Kieran Powell and Veerasammy Permaul in place of injured Chris Gayle and Narsingh Deonarine.

Jaydev Unadkat has made the way for Mohit Sharma in India's playing eleven.

A dominant India would look to seal the series by taking an unassailable 2-0 lead against a struggling Caribbean side, who are proving to be a complete mismatch to the World champions.

After a listless performance in the Test series, losing explosive Gayle to an injury has added to the woes and worries of the Caribbean side, who now face a do-or-die situation to save the series.
