Ishant, Vinay dropped for ODI series

NEW DELHI: The national selection committee - headed by Sandeep Patil - dropped medium-pacers Ishant Sharma and Vinay Kumar from the ODI team which is scheduled to play three matches against West Indies later this month.

In their place, Mumbai's Dhawal Kulkarni and Haryana's Mohit Sharma have been included in the 15-member squad.

Ishant and Vinay's exclusion was on the cards after their poor show in the recent ODI series against Australia.

The stellar debut of Mohammed Shami in the Kolkata Test must have helped the selectors to make up their minds.

All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who was rested for the ongoing Test series due to a shoulder niggle, is back in the team.

Middle-order batsman Yuvraj Singh managed to retain his place. The one-dayers against West Indies will be played on November 21 (Kochi), November 24 (Vizag) and November 27 (Kanpur).

The squad: MS Dhoni (captain), Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Ambati Rayudu, Amit Mishra, Jaydev Unadkat, Dhawal Kulkarni & Mohit Sharma.
