The SC proposed that the new probe panel will be headed by former Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana HC Mukul Mudgal and will have L Nageshwar Rao, senior SC advocate and Nilesh Dutta.
The apex court deferred the hearing of Srinivasan's case by a day, thereby prolonging his wait to take over as BCCI chief.
Srinivasan has been facing flak from several quarters for refusing to leave the chair despite his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan being chargesheeted on betting and match-fixing allegations.
Srinivasan has in place a 'team' of trusted lieutenants who will run Indian cricket's administration till the next AGM in 2014.
Srinivasan, and band of supporters, are so confident that their 'boss' will get relief from the highest court and take charge of a rudderless BCCI, that they have no 'Plan B' in case things do not fall in place.
