Rahane, who hit 6 boundaries and 2 sixes in his innings, slammed his third Champions League Twenty20 half-century on the trot to take Rajasthan Royals to a respectable total.
Rahane and Shane Watson put up a swift 59-run partnership with for the fourth wicket that helped set the tone after the Royals got off to a precarious start.
Rahane had earlier stabilised the innings along with Sanju Samson by putting up a steady 33-run partnership after losing skipper Rahul Dravid and Kevon Cooper cheaply.
However, Jason Holder's short of length delivery was mistimed by Samson (11) and was taken comfortably by Ravichandran Ashwin at the midwicket position.
Earlier, Chris Morris got the better of Dravid's (5) stumps in the third over of the match just before Mohit Sharma brought an early end to Cooper's (14) innings.
Cooper hit 2 boundaries and a single six in his short cameo and was looking to do some serious damage; however, Sharma was successful in getting the right-hander caught by Subramaniam Badrinath.
