Titans fought back to dismiss Hanuma Vihari (6) and Biplab Samantray (0) in successive overs to reduce Hyderabad to 86/4 in 11.3 overs.
Parthiv Patel (26) and Shikhar Dhawan (37) fell in quick succession after they put on a quick-fire 62-run opening stand.
David Wiese clean bowled Patel in the ninth over to reduce Hyderabad to 71/2 in 8.1 overs. Patel hit two sixes and two fours in his 24-ball knock.
Hyderabad lost in-form Dhawan in the seventh over after the openers gave them a fiery start. Sunrisers's skipper smashed a six and seven boundaries in his 21-ball blitzkrieg.
Earlier, Titans skipper Henry Davids won the toss and invited Sunrisers Hyderabad to bat.
With one win and a defeat, both Sunrisers and Titans are desperately looking for a victory to stay in contention for a semifinal berth.
The two teams are on four points each and a defeat on Saturday would mean that the losing side will be virtually out of the reckoning.
After qualifying into the main draw, the Sunrisers got off to a winning start against Trinidad and Tobago before they were bulldozed by Chennai Super Kings, who rode on captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni's hurricane unbeaten 19-ball 63, here on Thursday.
Just like the Sunrisers, even the Titans had come up with brilliant batting display against the Chennai Super Kings before going down by four wickets in their opening game.
A couple of dropped catches at crucial junctures affected their defence as Chennai won in Ranchi.
Titans, however, managed to eke out a narrow four-run win over Brisbane Heat.
