NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday said that the Indian cricket board can go ahead with its annual general body meeting and elect its office bearers, but in case the outgoing president N Srinivasan gets re-elected, he will not take charge of the cricketing body till it decides on a petition by Cricket Association of Bihar.
The ruling was given by the bench headed by Justice A.K. Patnaik.
The Cricket Association of Bihar has moved the Supreme Court seeking to restrain Srinivasan from the becoming the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India on the ground that his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan is facing probe on the allegations of spot-fixing and betting in IPL 6.
The court directed the matter be listed for Monday.
