Known for his bitter comments, Bedi this time has gone far ahead by calling IPL the Vidya Balan of Indian cricket, according to a national newspaper.
"Indian Premier League is not my cup of tea. Test match is a legacy for me. But we are not interested in preserving our own legacy. It feels sad when our legacy is ruined. IPL is the Vidya Balan of Indian cricket - entertainment, entertainment, entertainment," Bedi said at a talk show organised by Osian, a firm which plans to hold an auction of cricket memorabilia in the city on September 13.
Also present on the occasion was former Indian opener and coach Anshuman Gaekwad. Gaekwad, however said that the IPL has been beneficial for the budding cricketers.
"I too belong to the same school of thought where Test cricket is the ultimate form of the sport. But I do not rule out the fact that IPL has actually helped in the revival of cricket in India. Indian cricket was going through a low and it looked like it would go the West Indies way. But the IPL that has enlightened the game," said Gaekwad.
