India's 'memory' champions leave for World Mental Olympics in Turkey

New Delhi, Sept 02: India's two "little wonders"- Shourya Maheshwari and Granth Thakkar are all set to head for Turkey to participate in the memory championship.

The genius, eight-year-old Shourya can solve the Rubik's cube in just two minutes and that too blindfoldedly!

Shourya is the latest member to join the seven-member Indian team that returned with 33 medals from the World Mental Olympics last year.

This year, the Indian team is planning to attempt 18 more records in Turkey.

12-year-old Granth wants to reclaim his 'mental addition record' that was broken by a Japanese contestant.

The Indian team for the World Mental Olympics has been trained by 25-year-old Gwendolen Noronha, who has proudly carried the legacy of mathematical wizards Aryabhatta and Shakuntala Devi.

According to NDTV report, Noronha is heading the Mental Calculations and Memory World Cup team for India.

In the memory championship, the competitors are required to learn as much as they can in a given duration.

This year, the Indian team is planning to attempt 18 more records in Turkey.
