DRS still hot topic inside ICC quarters

NEW DELHI: The Decision Review System (DRS), which came under a lot of criticism during the recent Ashes series in England, is being discussed very seriously by the International Cricket Council (ICC) to make the technology acceptable to all Test playing nations, including India.

According to sources, when the chief executive committee meets in Dubai on September 16 and 17, a discussion on DRS is certainly going to crop up but it won't make any headway - as the matter is being discussed at all levels in the ICC.

"A security is a must and India's stand on DRS is certainly vindicated. The ICC meeting may discuss matter to make DRS more effective," a source told TOI.

The entire discussion may range on the HotSpot technology, which is one of the elements of DRS. "A lot of the decision during the Ashes sparked debate and controversy. The executive members are committed to this issue," the source added.

Sources also said that a discussion whether to include 'Snicko' machinery would also figure in the discussion. As far as the Indian board is concerned, BCCI is not willing to accept any technology, which is not full-proof.
