U-23: India thrash Pak by 9 wkts in final

NEW DELHI: Brilliant show by the bowlers and solid contribution from Lokesh Rahul and Manprit Juneja powered India to a nine-wicket victory over Pakistan in the final of under-23 Asian Cricket Council Emerging Teams Cup on Sunday.

Batting first, Pakistan were bundled out for a meagre 159. Baba Aparajith claimed three wickets while Sandeep Sharma and SP Yadav dismissed two batsmen each.

The last wicket partnership between tailenders Ehsan Adil and Usman Qadir steered Pakistan cross 150 mark after they were reduced to just 110 for 9.

Adil and Qadir stitched 52-run for the last wicket. Umar Waheed was the top scorer for Pakistan. He made 41 off 64 balls.

In reply, despite losing Unmukt Chand cheaply, India demolished the Pakistan attack and secured a comprehensive win against the arch rivals with 16 overs to spare. Rahul scored an unbeaten 93 while Juneja made 51 not out.
