Tri-series: Regular wickets hurt India

NEW DELHI: Indian innings faltered after a brisk opening stand as the visitors lost four wickets in quick intervals to get reduced to 168/4, from 123/0 at one point of time, in the fourth ODI of the tri-series at Port of Spain in Trinidad.

Scorecard

Pacer Tino Best struck again to dismiss Dinesh Karthik (6), giving India fourth blow on the first delivery of the 36th over.

India lost both openers Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma in quick succession after a solid 123-run first wicket stand.

Tino Best restricted Rohit Sharma (46) from getting his half-ton after Kemar Roach gave West India first breakthrough by removing Shikhar Dhawan (69) to leave India at 141/2 in 29.1 overs.

Roach got Dhawan caught by Bravo at deep square leg in the 24th over, breaking a solid 123-run first wicket stand.

In the 30th over, Sharma was caught by wicket keeper Denesh Ramdin off Best after his 78-ball knock.

West Indies spinner Marlon Samuels gave India third blow after they crossed 150-mark by sending back Suresh Raina (10). Raina edged Samuels straight into Sammy's hand.

Earlier, despite disciplined attack, West Indies failed to get any early breakthrough as India crossed 100 mark in 22nd overs after being invited to bat.

Shikhar Dhawan scored a well deserved half-ton, setting a solid base for India in the do-or-die battle. Dhawan's fifty came off 70 balls. He was ably supported by his partner.

Earlier, India got off to a cautious start as they reached first fifty runs in 12 overs.

The Indian openers were seen struggling in scoring runs against the West Indies pacers as the duo could add just 39 runs in first powerplay.

After two back-to-back defeats, India need to win this match to stay afloat in the tri-series.

Both West Indies and India made one change to their playing eleven.

While Bravo returned to the side for West Indies in place of Devon Smith after recovering from a groin injury, India replaced Shami Ahmed with Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

West Indies: Chris Gayle, Johnson Charles, Darren Bravo, Marlon Samuels, Dwayne Bravo(c), Kieron Pollard, Denesh Ramdin(w), Darren Sammy, Sunil Narine, Kemar Roach, Tino Best

India: Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Murali Vijay, Virat Kohli(c), Dinesh Karthik(w), Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav
