Due to two rain interruptions, the contest has been reduced to a 40-over game, with a 20-minute interval.
The powerplays have also been reduced to eight and four overs after the rain stopped play for the second time. A bowler can bowl maximum eight overs in an innings.
Asad Shafiq (14) and skipper Misbah-ul-Haq (5) were at the crease when heavens opened up.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar struck on the first delivery when the match resumed after rain interruption to remove Mohammad Hafeez.
Pakistan suffered another big blow when Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin struck to remove Kamran Akmal and leave them stuttering at 56/3 in 15.1 overs.
Pakistan were 50/1 in 12 overs with Mohammad Hafeez (27*) and Kamran Akmal (20*) were at the crease when the match was stopped due to rain.
Mohammad Hafeez and Kamran Akmal were batting well in tandem to give Pakistan a momentum after losing Nasir Jamshed cheaply.
Pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave India an early breakthrough by removing Jamshed after Indian skipper MS Dhoni invited the arch-rivals to bat.
Jamshed also survived the LBW appeal off Umesh Yadav when the batsman went for the referral after being given out by the on field umpire.
Pakistani batsmen had touch negotiating Indian pacers as they saw the first boundary in sixth over when Mohammad Hafeez smashed back to back boundaries off Yadav.
India have not made any changes in their playing XI, while Pakistan have left out Imran Farhat and brought in Asad Shafiq.
The match may be inconsequential because India have already qualified for the semifinals and Pakistan are already out of the tournament. However, for the Pak team that was booed on its way out of Edgbaston the other day after losing to South Africa, winning against India may allow them to head back home with a consolation win.
Champions Trophy history is, of course, siding with Pakistan. They have never lost to India in six editions of this event.
