'Chance for us to get something back'

BIRMINGHAM: The Indian camp says they're not under pressure because they've qualified. The Pakistan camp says they're not under pressure because they're out of the tournament. Yet, the battle of Birmingham is being talked about as one that might be the most intensely fought in this Champions Trophy.

That's what the paying public expects when India and Pakistan play. MS Dhoni, who has certainly set his sights on the trophy already, may not admit this now, but Misbah-ul Haq, whose team has bowed out of the tournament, is willing to bet on this one. "Everybody knows India versus Pakistan is always a game most viewers look forward to simply because the countries have more followers than anyone else. That is why, for the sake of the audience, it is always a very important game," says Misbah.

There is no doubting his viewpoint. The city of Birmingham has been gearing up for this match for long now and on Saturday all roads will lead to Edgbaston, where the teams clash. "It's a chance for us to prove ourselves, go out there and get something back. As a player, as a team there won't be pressure on us but we just want to try and win this game," he said.

Pakistan's early exit from the Champions Trophy has led to a severe backlash at home. However, with just two matches to qualify and less time to get accustomed to the fickle English conditions, it was never going to be easy for Misbah.

"Disappointment will remain because every team wants to win a championship whenever you participate," he said.
