Interim president Jagmohan Dalmiya said on Monday that the board will look into the allegations levelled against Dhoni.
"I don't want to disturb the team during the Champions Trophy. We have taken a note of the (Dhoni) issue, we are looking into it but we are not going to hound anyone," Dalmiya said, after the emergent working committee meeting in New Delhi on Monday. Whether the matter will be officially probed or not has not been decided yet.
It seems the house is divided on the Dhoni issue, but in an important decision, BCCI has also proposed that all IPL cricketers will have to share details of their financial transactions, including bank account details and sources of earnings. They will also have to give their phone numbers one month before the IPL begins.
"If the player has nothing to hide, we don't see why the players should have problems sharing their income receipts with the board," a working committee member said.
Team owners too will have to share their financial details with BCCI — including details of payments and contractual obligations with players and support staff — before they make the actual payments to cricketers. There will also be a stricter code of conduct for IPL cricketers.
Dhoni was in the news for all the wrong reasons after it transpired that he had owned 15% shares in a company ( Rhiti Sports Management) that manages national cricketers Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja and Pragyan Ojha, besides the Indian captain himself.
The Indian team will return in August after touring West Indies and Zimbabwe, which follow the Champions Trophy.
Dhoni's alleged conflict of interest investments, however, did not come up for discussion in the emergent working committee meeting. "Nothing will happen to MSD as long as he is winning and N Srinivasan is there in the board," was how a BCCI member, who wished to remain anonymous, put it.
