Bracing themselves for another big battle, the challenge this time is not just from the opposing team. With a top official in police custody over his links with bookies, the pressure is from within as well. CSK coach Stephen Fleming was around to suggest they are up to it despite that big "distraction".
"Yeah, it's a great record so far but we are up against a very good side. We have had some great battles against Mumbai this season," he said at the rain-soaked Eden Gardens on Saturday. "I guess one of the other issues is what was there in the statement (on betting and spot-fixing), and that put more pressure on the side. But we welcome that. We are a side that has risen to a lot of challenges," he added.
Mike Hussey said, "There can be distractions with a lot of stuff going around. We have to focus on our job and come out and give our best. If we do that it will give us a good chance to win," he said. "The boys are excited to get everything behind and put all the controversies behind and express ourselves."
Mumbai coach John Wright indicated Sachin Tendulkar would not be playing though the team will "take a final call on Sunday." He added that Tendulkar was "a big part of our team whether he is playing or not."
