The Tendulkar-Smith duo put up a quick-fire 32 run stand for the opening wicket straight after skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
However, the party was short-lived when Ishant Sharma played wrecker-in-chief to dismiss Tendulkar (14) and Karthik (0) in one over.
While Tendulkar, who hit a couple of boundaries in his short innings, was comprehensively bowled, Karthik was caught comfortably by Karan Sharma.
Both teams head into this match with unchanged playing XIs from the previous match.
Sunrisers Hyderabad have very little time to recover from back-to-back losses as they face another formidable challenge in the star-studded Mumbai Indians in their IPL 6 clash.
