Kings XI Punjab made a good comeback after losing openers early as Marsh smashed flurry of boundaries. The Australian southpaw went to smash a half-century in 39 balls.
Azhar Mahmood also joined the party, hammering a six and three fours in row in Lasith Malinga's first over to take Kings XI past fifty in eight over.
Mahmood continued his scintillating hitting as he notched up quick-fire 27-ball fifty and smacked five fours and three sixes to leave the Mumbai bowlers cluless.
The duo also completed their fifty-run stand in just 32 balls to turn the momentum in Punjab's way.
Mumbai Indians pacer Rishi Dhawan and Nathan Coulter-Nile gave Kings XI Punjab early jolts by dismissing their openers cheaply.
Dhawan and Coulter-Nile dismissed Mandeep Singh and Adam Gilchrist respectively to reduce Punjab to 6/2 in 2.2 overs.
Earlier, Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bowl against Punjab in their last league match of the IPL.
Mumbai have made two changes, bringing in Nathan Coulter-Nile and Rishi Dhawan in place of Pragyan Ojha and Mitchell Johnson.
Rajagopal Sathish has made the way for Gurkeerat Singh in Kings XI's playing eleven.
Having grabbed a berth in the qualifiers, Mumbai hope to finish on a high with a win at this picturesque venue as they would prefer to play in Qualifier 1, which gives the loser a second chance to make it to the final.
Punjab's slim chances of making the playoffs were dented by Sunrisers Hyderabad, who upstaged Rajasthan Royals by 23 runs on Friday to greatly enhance their chances of the last four qualification.
Kings XI required Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore lose their remaining matches.
