IPL final: MI on back foot, lose two early

NEW DELHI:Chennai Super Kings got off to a dream start as Mumbai Indians lost three wickets with just 16 runs on board after electing to bat in the IPL final at the Eden Gardens on Sunday.

Mohit Sharma gave Chennai Super Kings early breakthrough by dismissing in the first over after Mumbai Indians elected to bat.

Sharma trapped Smith leg before after being hit for a four by the batsman in the previous delivery.

In the next over, Albie Morkel bowled out Tare without allowing him to get off the mark.

Morkel struck again in the fourth over, taking a stunning return catch of skipper Rohit Sharma.

Both teams are unchanged.

Embroiled in the spot-fixing scam, becoming champions for a third time would be a daunting task for the Chennai Super Kings.

Chennai have been a part of four consecutive, five overall, finals but it is the best chance for Mumbai to take a good shot at the title, avenge their 2010 final defeat.

Chennai Super Kings: Mike Hussey, Murali Vijay, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni(c), Ravindra Jadeja, S Badrinath, Dwayne Bravo, Albie Morkel, Chris Morris, R Ashwin, Mohit Sharma

Mumbai Indians: Aditya Tare, Dwayne Smith, Dinesh Karthik, Rohit Sharma(c), Kieron Pollard, Ambati Rayudu, Harbhajan Singh, Rishi Dhawan, Mitchell Johnson, Lasith Malinga, Pragyan Ojha
