NEW DELHI: Manpreet Gony gave Punjab first breakthrough by dismissing Chris Gayle just after Bangalore crossed 100-mark in the 12th over in the IPL clash.
Gayle slammed quick-fire 61 off 33 balls before getting bowled out by Gony. Gayle, started slowly at the green PCA track, but soon went offensive against the Punjab atack.
The explosive opener shared 102-run stand for the first wicket with Cheteshwar Pujara and hit three sixes and six boundaries during his explosive knock.
Kings XI Punjab won the toss and elected to bowl against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the PCA stadium.
Cheteshwar Pujara replaced Lokesh Rahul while Ravi Rampaul is back or Muralitharan in Bangalore squad. For Punjab, Michael Naser replaced Luke Pomersbach.
