NEW DELHI: Sunrisers Hyderabad batsmen made a mountain out of a molehill while chasing a meagre target of 81 runs as they lost four wickets before finally beating below-par Delhi Daredevils by 6 wickets.

Hanuma Vihari (11 not out) and Darren Sammy (18 not out) made sure in the end that there was no more hiccup as the duo guided the hosts to the finish line in 13.5 overs.

The victory pushed Hyderabad to third in the points table, while the defeat almost kicked Delhi out of top-four contentions.

Sunrisers lost four wickets in quick succession after a good start as they stuttered in their run chase against Daredevils in their IPL 6 match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Saturday.

Sunrisers lost their skipper Kumar Sangakkara (8) to Johan Botha in the twelfth over to be reduced to 60/4 in 11.2 overs.

Jeevan Mendis dismissed Parthiv Patel (14) in the seventh over to give Daredevils a well-needed boost in the match as they reduced Hyderabad to 43/3 in 6.5 overs.

Hyderabad lost Ashish Reddy (5) soon after Dhawan's wicket in the previous over, when he was dismissed by Delhi pacer Ashish Nehra.

In-form Shikhar Dhawan (22) hit four boundaries in his 16-ball cameo to give Sunrisers a solid start before Johan Botha trapped the left-hander leg before in the fifth over.

Electing to bat first, Daredevils seemed to have no answer to a fiery Sunrisers bowling attack as they were bundled out for just 80 runs in 19.1 overs.

This total of 80 runs is the fourth lowest total by a team in the IPL. Rajasthan Royals hold the record for the lowest total in an IPL game when they were bundled out for 58 runs against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The Daredevils got off to a bad start as they lost skipper Mahela Jayawardene early when Ishant Sharma struck in his second over for Hyderabad.

Jayawardene (11) failed to make an impact as Ishant, whose first over was a maiden, caught the Delhi skipper plumb after Delhi won the toss and decided to bat.

Soon after, Darren Sammy put Delhi further on the backfoot when he got the better of Virender Sehwag's (8) stumps, who seemed to be struggling to hit the ball ever since the start of the match.

Amit Mishra then added more salt to the Delhi wounds when he bowled a magical delivery to bamboozle David Warner, which in turn got the Aussie stumped by Kumar Sangakkara.

If that wasn't enough, spinner Karan Sharma joined the wicket taking party when he caught Delhi Daredevils wicketkeeper Kedar Jadhav (3) off his own bowling.

Sammy then came back for his second spell and immediately proved effective in dismissing Jeevan Mendis (11) when the Sri Lankan was caught by Ishant at long on.

Delhi Daredevils head into this match with two changes. Jeevan Mendis replaces Ben Rohrer, who has gone home to get married, and Morne Morkel has been dropped to accommodate Johan Botha.
