End of career may be near for Sachin

Sachin Tendulkar left a broad hint at the end of the IPL final on Sunday night that he won't be playing the game for too long. When he said that it was his last IPL, it effectively meant that it would be his last season in competitive cricket.

Most of the Indian stalwarts, after their retirement from international career, carried on playing IPL for at least one season. But Tendulkar has announced his IPL retirement earlier than his Test retirement.

He has already retired from international T20 and one-day cricket and now that he has said that he won't play IPL again, means that the forthcoming season will be his last in competitive cricket.

Tendulkar, as it is, will be out of international cricket till November, when India go to South Africa. In South Africa, where India play four Test matches, the Little Master will complete 200 Tests and after that there is a Test series against New Zealand away from home.

That gets over by March 2014, just ahead of the IPL and it's unlikely that Sachin will wait for another season in Tests. "I think this is the right time to stop playing IPL. Just got to accept the reality that this would be my last season. I am happy that the end was perfect," the Little Master said, setting the platform for a departure from the cricket scene.
