Captain Aaron Finch hit a breezy 52 and Luke Wright complimented it with a blistering 44 as the Warriors posted a challenging 172 for five after winning the toss at the Gahunje stadium. The Daredevils were never in the chase after losing four wickets for 55 before the first time out, eventually closing at 134 for nine.
Awkward left-arm spinner Ali Murtuza did the damage with 3-15. The former Mumbai Indians' bowler dismissed rival skipper Mahela Jayawardene (14) in his very first over before sending back Virender Sehwag (11) and the dangerous-looking Bharat Chipli off successive balls in the next.
If those twin strikes in the eighth over were not enough, the contest was effectively sealed when Ben Rohrer dragged Ashok Dinda on to his stumps in the 10th with 64 on the board.
The one individual spark for Delhi was CM Gautham's counter-attacking 30 (23b). His innings was the dominating part of the 54-run sixth wicket stand with Irfan Pathan (24).
It was Pune's fourth win of the season, one more than Delhi, and helped them climb out of the ninth last place in the league table.
They had finished last in the previous season.
