Bowling at death worrisome: Virat Kohli

BANGALORE: In a precarious situation following a series of defeats, RCB skipper Virat Kohli conceded that his side's bowling at the death overs is a "worrying factor".

"Bowling has not been great," said Kohli after RCB were overpowered by Punjab here on Tuesday.

"That's something we need to look into. That was a bit of concern last year as well so we thought bringing in more options would be helpful but the guys haven't been able to execute in the last few overs. We have to pull up our socks and win the last game. But the batting has been really consistent," he added.

Kohli said the presence of three strong left-handers in the Punjab batting order forced RCB to tinker with their bowling lineup.

In-form pacer Ravi Rampaul and Murali Kartik were dropped, paving the way for spinner Muttiah Muralitharan and Zaheer Khan.

"Ravi didn't play because they had three impact left-handers so we decided that Muralitharan would be a better option," he said.

Explaining the sedate start, the RCB skipper said: "The wicket looked pretty good to play but it actually wasn't the case. It was pretty slow, keeping low and the ball wasn't coming on to the bat. That's why Chris (Gayle) and I decided to stick around."
