BCCI an egoistic body: Subrata Roy

NEW DELHI: Days after pulling out his team Pune Warriors India from the IPL, Sahara chief Subrata Roy on Friday lashed out at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for their 'egoistic' approach.

Irked by the BCCI over financial dispute over Pune Warriors fees, Roy said that the Indian cricket board didn't even have courtesy to reply to his letter.

"The board was not even interested in talking to us to sort out differences. And we didn't have any choice than to pull out of the IPL," said Roy in an exclusive interview to Times Now.

Lashing out at BCCI chief, Roy also said that Sahara would not sponsor Team India if N Srinivasan continues to head the cricket board.

"Person like Srinivasan does not know how to run a cricket. Sahara will not sponsor Team India till N Srinivasan stays as its chief," said Roy adding that BCCI's style of functioning is disgusting, irritating and frustrating.

Sahara pulled out Pune Warriors team from IPL after a failed negotiation with the BCCI led to the latter encashing the team's bank guarantee.

A senior BCCI official said that the bank guarantee of the team was invoked after Sahara did not pay its full franchise fee for this season. "We have no option now than to invite bids for another franchise just as we did in the case of the Hyderabad team," he said, requesting anonymity.
