Yuvraj Singh removed Stuart Binny just after Rahul Sharma gave Pune the much needed breakthrough by scalping Ajinkya Rahane (30) after a solid second-wicket stand.
Binny's dismissal came just after Rahul Dravid reached his half-ton in 43 deliveries. Binny's wicket reduced Pune to 85/3 in 12.2 overs.
Rahul Sharma got Ajinkya Rahane (30) caught by Angelo Matthews after a solid 81-run stand for the second wicket.
Rahane tried to crash Sharma's slower past extra cover but was caught by Matthews.
Earlier, Rahul Dravid and Ajinkya Rahane steadied Rajasthan after they lost Kusal Perera on the very first delivery of the innings in the IPL clash.
The duo took Rajasthan past 50 in 7.2 overs despite suffering an early blow.
Pune pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar trapped Kusal Perera (0) leg before on the first ball after Rajasthan Royals elected to bat.
Rajasthan replaced injured Shane Watson, Shaun Tait and Rahul Shukla with James Faulkner, Harmeet Singh and Kushal Perera.
