Kohli, Gauti spat brings back 'Slapgate'

BANGALORE: Five years ago, the first edition of India's high profile T20 tournament saw Harbhajan Singh slap Sreesanth after Mumbai Indians were beaten by Kings XI Punjab at Mohali.

The incident cost Harbhajan, who incidentally was the MI skipper, his entire fee and also got him banned from the tournament.

On Thursday, KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir and RCB skipper Virat Kohli's ugly altercation brought back memories of 'Slapgate.' Kohli and Gambhir may be India and Delhi teammates, but there was no love lost between them after Gambhir gave Kohli an aggressive send off following his dismissal.

Gambhir's celebrations though provoked Kohli, who was walking back to the pavilion, to stop and charge at his opposite number. But before the incident could turn ugly, KKR all-rounder Rajat Bhatia, who also plays for Delhi in domestic cricket, and the field umpires intervened to separate the two captains.

At the post-match PC, Gambhir got a touch defensive when asked about the spat. "Ask Kohli when he comes to the press conference," he said. When quizzed more, Gambhir, who was booed by the crowd during the presentation, termed it as 'rush of blood.'
