Knight Riders lose two quick wickets

NEW DELHI: Royal Challengers Bangalore bowlers struck in quick succession to slow down Kolkata Knight Riders in the death overs during their IPL match at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Scorecard

Vinay Kumar and RP Singh dismissed two well-set Gautam Gambhir and Manoj Tiwary respectively. Singh also took Eoin Morgan's wicket.

KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir reached his half-century just after Pathan's dismissal.

Henriques bowled a slower fullish delivery which Pathan shot towards Vinay Kumar in the deep. Pathan hit a quick-fire 27 off 17 balls and shared 41-run stand with skipper Gautam Gambhir.

Earlier, Kolkata had lost Jacques Kallis when the veteran batsman had failed to time the Vinay Kumar delivery and drove it into the hands of Henriques at sweeper cover.

Kallis and skipper Gautam Gambhir had given Kolkata Knight Riders a steady start after losing Manvinder Bisla early in their IPL clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Henriques had struck early for RCB when he dismissed Manvinder Bisla (1) when he bowled a short delivery which Bisla tried to cut on the off-side. Unfortunately for the KKR batsman, the ball went straight to KL Rahul.

Royal Challengers Bangalore elected to bowl against the Kolkata Knight Riders.

RCB have made one change, KL Rahul comes in for Murali Kartik.

Kolkata Knight Riders made three changes to their line-up. Pradeep Sangwan replaces Laxmi Ratan Shukla, Ryan McLaren is in for Brett Lee and Laxmipathy Balaji takes Shami Ahmed's place in the team.

Led by the energetic Virat Kohli, RCB trounced Hyderabad by 19 runs on Monday and the RCB skipper will be hoping that his men will not go haywire after making a good start, which was their story until the last IPL.

KKR, in contrast, have failed to capitalise on their good start having lost their last match to Rajasthan by 19 runs chasing a rather easy target of 145.
