After electing to bat, Aaron Finch and Robin Uthappa got Pune off to a brisk start. The duo shared 96-run stand between them, setting tone for a big total.
However, quick wickets of Aaron Finch, Robin Uthappa in mid overs slowed down Pune. Finch scored 67 while Uthappa made 26.
Jadeja gave Chennai first breakthrough in the 13th over by getting rid of danger man Finch whose 45-ball knock was studded with ten boundaries and two sixes.
Finch tried to flick Jadeja but was stumped by Dhoni.
Just after Pune crossed 100-mark, Chris Morris dismissed Uthappa to reduce Pune to 101/2. Uthappa was caught by Jadeja at long on after scoring 26.
Pune further lost two more wickets in quick succession that declined their scoring rate. However, Steven Smith executed great fireworks and slammed 16-ball-39 to guide his side to a sizeable total.
With skipper Angelo Mathews ruled out due to the current political scenario, Ross Taylor is leading Pune Warriors.
Pune have brought in Steven Smith and Manisha Pandey in place of Yuvraj Singh and Angelo Matthews.
Chennai, on the other hand, gave Michael Hussey a break and brought in S Anirudha. Albie Morkel also gets to play his first match of the season as he replaced Mohit Sharma.
