Manan Vohra remained the top scorer for Punjab making a quick-fire 31 off 21 balls with the help of three boundaries and a six.
Openers Adam Gilchrist and Mandeep Singh scored 27 and 25 respectively and also shared a good 45-run stand for the first wicket.
Gurkeerat Singh, however, gave notable contribution, slamming 28 off just 15 balls in death overs that took the side a fighting total.

Gilchrist, tried to recover from his lost form, but failed to make it big and got caught by Morgan while trying to hook Bhatia over mid-wicket.
In the 13th over Lakshmipathy Balaji struck to get the wicket of danger man Manan Vohra after his 21-ball-31 that had steadied Punjab after the fall of openers.
Vohra was caught by Das at deep cover after a quick-fire knock that was studded with three boundaries and a six.
Kolkata spinner Sarabjit Ladda bowled out David Miller just after Kings XI Punjab crossed 100-run mark to inflict fourth blow to the visitors.
Miller's dismissal reduced Punjab to 109/4 in 14.4 overs.
Kings XI Punjab won the toss and elected to bat against Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL clash at the Eden Gardens stadium on Friday.
